Sophie Quastel is an early-career Associate at the Human Feedback Foundation in Toronto, advocating for centering human perspectives in AI development and advancing open reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF). She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) with a double major in Health Studies (Public Health) and Sociology from the University of Toronto. Sophie has contributed as a primary researcher and co-author on a rapid review of MAiD and end-of-life care (presented at a Hospice Palliative Care Ontario conference and winner of a Best Scientific Poster Award), and has experience organizing community chapters (AI Tinkerers), peer mentoring through Accessibility Services, and roles in public policy support and elections administration. Her background combines applied public-health research, policy/program support, community organizing, accessibility advocacy, and human-centered data collection for AI systems.

I am a strategy professional and account executive who works with Fortune 500 and G2000 companies to break down and solve their most challenging and ambiguous problems. My ability to work in dynamic work environments and build relationships with senior executives has allowed me to develop innovative solutions to drive transformational change and maximize value for my clients. I have primarily worked with retail and travel clients specifically on digital products, operating model and strategic planning projects to position these organizations for growth.
